Great film which is critically unacclaimed

Saw a great movie this week on ITV4. A friend recommended it.It's called "The Beast" and is set in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation. It is really excellent and it would be in my list of all time greats.... highly recommended. It was made in the eighties but hasn't dated.
